TELECOMMUNICATIONS PLATFORM

Advanced wireless communications customized for industrial partners

The telecommunications platform develops components, circuits, and systems for wireless communications. It covers the entire R&D cycle through to demonstrators and prototypes, offering its clients industrialization support.

The platform develops technologies for companies involved in broadband mobile connectivity (5G/6G), industrial IoT technology, traceability, RF sensors, defense, etc. Compared to market products, their low consumption, reliability, compactness, and high performance adapted to targeted applications makes them stand out.

Depending on the project, teams rely on off-the-shelf programmable components or on customized integrated circuits and antennas. Their scope covers signal processing algorithms, antennas, front-end RF, communication protocols, digital architectures, and validation hardware platforms.

What expertise do industrial partners receive?

• Technologies beyond 5G/6G: reaching higer frequency and power increase
• Use of innovative materials and advanced telecom technologies: GaN, RF SOI, FD-SOI, and BiCMOS
• Industrial IoT and traceability: low power, reliability, high-performance RFID
• RF sensors: multimodal tracking, specter sensing, multi-antenna microwave imaging
• SOI or GAN-based high-efficiency power amplifiers
• Joint communication and radar functions
• Propagation channel control using reconfigurable smart surfaces

Cutting edge equipment

• Three anechoic chambers (100 Mhz-330 Ghz)
• Probing equipment/channel emulation, over-the-air test platform
• Software Defined Radio assessment platform for quick prototyping
• Load pull test benches for characterizing/validating power amplifiers
• Functional characterization platforms and RF ASIC system validation

How to work with the telecommunications platform?

CEA-Leti’s teams support the needs of its industrial partners across all or some stages of development, using bilateral contracts or shared laboratories. The platform has nearly 50 industrial partners: founderies, fabless companies, system manufacturers, as well as industries that want to add value to their products. A few examples: STMicroelectronics, Murata, Siemens, Radiall, Davey Bickford, Snef Technologies, Spectracom, Astrocast, Spectronite, Terradona, etc.
