Definition

Security of Hardware & Security by Hardware! CEA-Leti is raising the security level of dedicated components and optimizing their usage for securing complex systems. Security and Privacy are critical factors in a digital world. Smart objects, devices and systems need to be secured against both cyber- and physical attacks. Integrated circuits and dedicated security components are key elements in most critical applications such as identity, health, automotive, industrial and many other systems.

CEA-Leti is increasing integrated circuit resistance to physical attack through innovative technology: shielding and sensors (countering physical and laser attacks), dedicated architectures (countering side channels and faults) and embedded software functions.

CEA-Leti ITSEF: a reference laboratory for evaluation of high-security devices

Wireless communication

Our R&D includes countering attacks such as relay, man in the middle and eavesdropping through development of specific protocols and components (e.g. antennas).

System evaluation

For complex system applications, we design and implement security protocols and architectures implementing high-resistance hardware kernels.

Security level assessment and assurance is ensured through standards-based threat characterization and risk assessment in a dedicated accredited laboratory.
