Leti's RF Technologies in Front End Modules, Mm-wave connectivity and Backhauling are meeting 5G challenges
GRENOBLE, France – June 11, 2020 – CEA-Leti today announced its researchers have broken the throughput world record of 5.1 Gbps in visible light communications (VLC) using a single GaN blue micro- light-emitting diode (LED). Their data transmission rate of 7.7 Gbps achieved with a 10 µm microLED marks another step toward commercialization and widespread use of LiFi communication.
As countries around the world begin rolling out 5G wireless networks, CEA-Leti is looking ahead to sixth-generation technologies that will surpass the data-transfer capability of 5G.
The institute is running field trials at 26.7 GHz band with 400 MHz bandwidth, which may be the first carrier frequency in the millimeter wave (mmWave) spectrum that will be released for 5G in France.
GRENOBLE, France – Dec. 19 2019 – LiFi, or visible-light communication, has significant advantages over WiFi, such as data-transmission speed and the data security it offers because light does not penetrate walls. But wide adoption is constrained primarily because of interference between devices using LiFi networks and LiFi's resulting poor performance in large areas.
